Thank you Lord for your amazing grace, that saved a sinner like me! Let me never lose the wonder of salvation, the weight of the forgiveness you give me! Help me to see the moments in the mundane where I can start to live out my purpose with greater confidence, faith and expectation! Will you give me some opportunities today to step into more of my purpose?!  Thank you God that not only do you give us blessings, but you give us the person you helps us experience and understand what these blessings really are! Thank you God that you don't hold anything back, not even your son Jesus! You gave it all for me, and so I chose to praise you with an attitude of gratitude! Amen!

Sev7nBigWeeks - Day48

GOD'S BLESSING COMES THROUGH CHRIST

PREPARE:  There is a song that goes "Praise him till your blessings come down, Praise him till your situation turns around You gotta lift up your voice and say: hallelujah anyway!"  Truth is that the blessings have already come down - they came through a person and His name is Christ Jesus! Eph 1:3 says that God has already blessed us in Christ! Our adoption was planned through Christ! Our redemption and forgiveness happened through the blood of Christ! It is Christ that opens the way to live in the blessings! So, it's not a case of praising till our blessings comes down - rather - we praise because the blessing has already come down! When we walk in the fullness of the blessing of Christ - our new identity, our purpose, empowered by the Spirit, and covered by grace, then, it doesn't matter what kind of material blessings we have or don't have! And God chose to give us these blessings, not for our comfort, but for our calling! You see, when we praise, it is not that the blessings come down (that has already happened), but rather that people around us get saved! As we declare the name of Jesus, the truth of the Gospel, the favour of God, salvation will go to the nations (Ps 67) and others will begin to praise Him!

DECLARE: I will praise because I am already blessed!

PRAYER: Thank you God that you don't hold anything back, not even your son Jesus! You gave it all for me, and so I chose to praise you with an attitude of gratitude!

Sev7nBigWeeks - Day47

GOD'S BLESSING IS EXPERIENCED THROUGH THE SPIRIT

PREPARE:  Paul writes in 1 Cor 2:12 "Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God"  God has already blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.  One of those blessing is the Holy Spirit -  who is the guarantee of our inheritance!  (Ephesians 1:14) So, the Holy Spirit is a blessing who helps us understand all the blessings that we have been given! Without the person and power of the Holy Spirit, we may know about the spiritual blessings of Christ, but we won't understand or experience them in their fullness! Maybe it's not the best example, but it's kind of The Holy Spirit is the Lego instruction manual and the rest of the blessings are the Lego pieces! He helps us make sense of it all! He one who allows us to feel the grace of God, to understand what it means to be forgiven and bought back at a price. The Holy Spirit is the one who confirms our new identity in Christ and whispers "You are righteous, holy and blameless <insert your name here>" whenever the enemy tries to bring condemnation on us!  The Holy Spirit is the one who guides us in our purpose!  And we have the Holy Spirit who knows the innermost thoughts of God and can communicate these realities to us, and bring us to a greater revelation of the blessings we have! So in fact that means we don’t need more of the Spirit; but rather the Spirit needs more of us - leaning in, listening, following.

DECLARE: I declare that I will rely on the Holy Spirit to allow me to understand and experience the blessings of God!

PRAYER: Thank you God that not only do you give us blessings, but you give us the person you helps us experience and understand what these blessings really are!

Sev7nBigWeeks - Day 46

GOD'S BLESSING PROVIDES YOUR PURPOSE

PREPARE:  Apart form identity, another area where we often have some uncertainty is that of purpose - "What am I really here for?"  Purpose has a lot more to do with your mission, your assignment, rather than your job description or your career path. Paul writes in Eph 1:3-14 as he unpacks the spiritual blessings that we have through Christ we get revelation of His will; that we are part of a greater plan that God is working out! As Christ follower's our Purpose with a capital P is to live as God's children, and to partner with God to expand the Kingdom of Jesus Christ! Now, the capital P purpose get's worked out in a lot of mundane moments. As part of your Purpose, your purpose might be to encourage someone at work today. Your purpose in this moment might by to show unusual kindness to someone.  Your purpose in the best to be the best parent you can be to your kids, the best partner to your spouse, the best employee you can be at your company. The Holy Spirit is the one who does the nudging into the small moments of purpose. If we are obedient and follow His lead, He gives us the power and grace to accomplish the purpose! And over time, all the small moments of purpose in the mundane collectively add up to your greater Purpose.  As you are faithful with each mundane moment of purpose, so God will begin to entrust you with moments of greater purpose - until you never have to wonder again, "What am I really here for?" since you will be totally wrapped up in God's great plan!

DECLARE: I declare that God has a plan and a purpose for me!

PRAYER:  Father, you've blessed me with the opportunity to be part of your great plan; a plan to see the Gospel change lives! Help me to see the moments in the mundane where I can start to live out my purpose with greater confidence, faith and expectation! Will you give me some opportunities today to step into more of my purpose?!

Sev7nBigWeeks - Day45

GOD'S BLESSING ESTABLISHES YOUR IDENTITY

PREPARE: One of the areas that all of us wrestle with at some point in our lives is the area of identity - "Who am I really?". We can feel a lot of pressure to try to prove who-we-think-we-should-be to those around us, through our job titles, actions, words, bank balance, possessions, appearance, and social media posts! One of the most freeing things about God's blessing that Paul writes about in Eph 1:3-14 is to do with our identity. He writes that before time began, God planned the adoption of us into His family!  Our new identity in the fullness of the blessing of Christ means we have the same relationship with God that Jesus has—we are His children! That takes a whole lot of pressure off - because it means we are loved, valued, and accepted by the one who really matters! This identity completely changes our relationship with God and our families, just as it changes the way we see the world, because we suddenly realize that we don't need to prove anything to anyone!  Instead of fearing God as a scary judge, we have the great privilege of coming to Him as our Father. We can approach Him with confidence and ask of Him what we need (Hebrews 4:16). We can ask for His guidance and wisdom (James 1:5) and know that nothing will take us from Him (Romans 8:38–39). We also rest in His authority and respond to Him with trusting obedience, because He is a good, good Father!  We also know that the identity we have in Christ means we are no longer slaves to sin (or fear)!  Our identity is established by God's blessing!

DECLARE: To borrow a line from Bethel - "I am no longer a slave to fear; I am a child of God"!

PRAYER: Father! Thank you for the great privilege I have to call you my father! You are the great creator God, yet, you see me as your precious child! No matter how my morning, day, week or month has been, I know that in you my true identity is established and secured!
